Fishing at Highfields

Large carp

At Highfields, we pride ourselves in offering excellent fishing in well-stocked yet well-balanced lakes. Great care has been taken to ensure that our lakes are not over-stocked to the detriment of the fish.

We recognise that the quality, good condition and health of the fish stock is paramount and so emphasis has been placed on creating a natural, rich environment for all of the lakes’ inhabitants. Stocking levels have been carefully calculated to maintain a natural ecological balance. A mix of Carp & Coarse fish ranging in size have been introduced along with the all-important invertebrates, micro-organisms and plant life essential for the successful development of the lakes.

Float in lake

There are three lakes in total, all approximately one acre in size and all benefiting from attractively planted islands. Dug into the natural clay bed and designed with the pleasure angler in mind, they are all nicely shaped with several promontories and bays to fish from. Anglers have the option of fishing the narrower channel swims up to the islands and also larger areas of open water.

A marginal shelf has been built into each lake and is home to a variety of aquatic plants and rushes. The shelf slopes gently away to the lake bed which has been contoured and sculptured to different depths to provide interesting features for both fish and angler.

Two of our lakes (Hawthorn & Rowan) are positioned within the Holiday Caravan/Log Cabin development and are exclusive to Holiday Home Owners (and Holiday-Makers). The third lake (Alder) is near the front of the site in the open meadows leading up to Reception and is also open to the public on a pre-booking basis.
